calling all teachers

In other news today, I found out that my director still hasn't found anyone to replace either Erin (who left this morning) or I and we are in desperate need of at least one teacher to cover all of her classes until the beginning of September. That's when these two girls that they're looking to hire will be coming over to take my and Erin's jobs. So basically...if anyone out there wants to come work at a fantabulous school where the pay is great, the boss is wonderful and the apartment is lush (not to mention I'd be your roommie) drop me a line and let me know. The director wants people who are already here in Seoul cause it's not like they wanna fly someone over here for just a couple of months. That is unless you wanna come work here very soon and sign the one-year contract... Aside from that, if anyone wants to come teach here in September to take my place in kindy, they are still interviewing for my spot too. Believe me, my school is as good as it gets and you're unlikely to find anything better than this. Sorry guys--they're looking for female teachers (since you'd have to live in an all girls apartment). So basically, they need a part-timer to work until September 1st teaching elementary or they need a full-time one-year contract elementary teacher right now and a full-time one-year contract kindy teacher in late July (when I'll be leaving). If anyone needs further info, email me and I'll be happy to help you in whatever way I can. I can provide pics of the school and apartment and details about the working schedules.

As for right now though, my wonderful goddess of a friend Danya has agreed to come work part-time at my school until she leaves Korea on July 3rd, and she'll be moving into our apartment tomorrow. I'm so excited that I'll get to see and spend time with her before she leaves and I know having her there in the apartment as a roommie for the next couple of weeks is going to be a lot of fun! She has been such a life-saver doing this for my school, cause if it weren't for her I'd probably have to work 11 hour days until they found someone to cover the extra classes that they need help with.

THANK YOU DANYA!!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

saying goodbye

So my roommate Erin finished her contract on Friday and she leaves to go back home tomorrow morning. It's weird really. It feels like I've been a part of this well-running machine for the past year and now all of the sudden an integral part is being taken away and we are left to try and cope without her. Granted her leaving doesn't affect me as much as the teachers in the elemetary levels (I'm in kindy), but it's going to be weird not having her around the apartment anymore. It's especially weird to think that I probably won't ever see her again. It's really unnerving to think that I could live with someone for almost a year and that they could then disappear as if they had never been a part of my life to begin with. How is that people come and go like this? How does that happen?

In any case, she will be missed...by me, by her co-teachers, by her students. And now it won't be long before I'll be going through the same thing. I just can't even imagine ending the life I've made here, and I'm surprised by how calm Erin has remained throughout all this...although I think that it might just be because it hasn't all quite sunk in yet, the fact that she'll be home in a matter of hours. It must be quite a feeling when your airplane lands on that runway back home and all those familiar faces are there to greet you at the gate; it has to be overwhelming to say the least.

As for me I'll be starting my own packing shortly. I've been kinda putting it off because I am so hopelessly unorganized and I'm dreading the process of sorting through what I'm going to throw away and what I want to take home with me. God only knows how I acquired so much stuff just over the course of a year. Neverless, it has to be done, and it will be...hopefully before it's time to go home.

:)
