plans & the coming cold
I just saw some very strange stuff on TV a few minutes ago. It looked like a Korean talk show with a band and all, but apparently it was a English teaching program (one of the many) that come on late in the evening for people who are up and wanna practice their speaking skills. That in and of itself was not so strange, but what they were actually doing was quite humorous. All of the people were sitting around on several couches singing along to a very sing-songy chant about various ailments, such as "I have a headache. I have a cold. I have diarrhea." I mean, yes, it's okay to learn those phrases and all...but to sing about them? What was even weirder was that the band in the background was rocking out to the song along with the rest of the people on the show. Weird... Sometimes Koreans here take learning English to a whole new level...which is not always necessarily a good thing. Well anyway...
It's gotten cold here in the last few days, so much so that I dare not go outside without at least a jacket on. So what does this mean? It means I've become grouchy and pessimistic as I always seem to at this time of year. And with Josh leaving in only a few short days, the next few months layed out before me look pretty bleak in fact. Not that I mind being here, it's just that I heard Korean winters are supposed to be fairly harsh...so I am definitely not looking forward to it. Plus I have absolutely no winter clothes to wear, so it looks like I'll be heading to Dongdaemun for some shopping very soon.
Anyway, on a better note, we do have some fun stuff planned for the weekend. Josh and I are headed to Itaewon tomorrow night for a look around and maybe some drinks at one of the local bars where I'm hoping some live music will be playing. Then Saturday we're going to to either Beopjusa Temple or Suwon Fortress outside of Seoul. Whichever one we don't do we'll be saving for the next day. Saturday night we're going out with Erin and a bunch of her friends to another bar for an all you care to eat and drink speacial for only 22,000 won...not too bad, and with all those people there it should be a good time. And then Sunday we'll be going to wherever we don't go on Saturday. Sunday night we'll probably get to bed early since I have work the next morning and Josh has to get up early to head to the airport.
So that's that for now. After Josh leaves I'll be back to the same old same old. Classes during the day, wandering around/rollerblading/running at night after work. It's too bad Erin and Amanda work in the evenings though, otherwise I'd hang just out with them, but as it turns out I always seem to be on my own. Not that I mind... I never really have before.
So yup, that's what's been going on with me. I wonder if anyone ever actually reads this blog. If so, leave me a note and let me know so that I don't feel like all this posting is for naught...and so I feel loved and stuff. Whichever works best for you.
:)
