No Turkey Day? ::sniff::

And while I've been here for nearly five months already I am still having difficulties meeting people to hang out with on a regular basis...but for some strange reason this doesn't really bother me as much as it did when I first arrived here. Maybe I've just accepted that I'm meant to wander on my own in this place, and really I'm ok with that now. Besides, my time here is almost halfway through, and I've done just fine thus far. In any case, I've found other things to keep myself occupied, like reading or downloading music & movies. I've also spent a lot of time exercising, whether it be hiking up mountains or walking long distances across town. I guess I just like to feel like I'm on the go all the time...though I was never really one to sit still for very long.

Currently I have no plans for Thanksgiving, though right now the only thing I'm planning on really making is a sweet potato pie. The kids and I went on a field trip to a nearby farm on Friday and they handed me a huge bag full of sweet potatoes at the end of the day. Needless to say, I have to use them somehow...so sweet potato pie it is then. I did find a place near Itaewon that sells frozen turkeys, but they are super expensive! I'm thinking I might just settle on a rotisserie chicken from Costco, some vegetables like corn and peas, and maybe some mashed sweet potatoes. I might bake some bread for the occasion too if I have time. It kinda sucks that the only other foreigners at my school aren't from the US (they're from Canada and the UK), so I'm pretty much the only one who wants to do anything for Thanksgiving. Guess I'm on my own there then. They did seem excited about the sweet potato pie though since I told them I'd be bringing it down to share with all of them...cause like heck I'm going to eat the whole thing by myself...

It would be nice to come home for Christmas really, but the tickets are so expensive (like $1600)! I don't want (or anyone else for that matter) to waste that kinda money on it, especially since I'd only really be in town for like five days. Besides, I'd rather not be rushed around like that over the holidays...I'd prefer to take it easy and relax. So I dunno...it's a nice thought, but not really practical at all. Oh well.

Anyway, I gotta go buy a birthday gift for another teacher I work with, so I'm off to E-Mart then. Hafta change out of this skirt first, cause it got friggin cold here over the last couple of days!!!!!!! Grrr....
